Coloured Gemstones Star in this Bespoke Statement Ring

The People of Berry Deserve the Best

Just two hours South of Sydney, the Shoalhaven area is home to the historic town of Berry. Popular with retirees, Berry is home to several luxurious over 55 communities.

The most prestigious of these is the Arbour, an award-winning village for independent living with both country and coastal appeal. Residents of the Arbour enjoy the finer things in life like gourmet food and boutique shopping.

Although Berry has no shortage of either of these things, Sara Handmade Jewellery is a favourite for those looking to have custom or bespoke jewellery design.

A statement ring that definitely has the WOW factor! This 18ct yellow and white gold beauty features cushion and marquise diamonds, tsavorite garnet, spinel, tanzanite and zircon.

Inspired by a Previous Creation

Our Kiama boutique is filled with a carefully curated jewellery collection, each piece being very different to the next. This helps you to visualise some of the possibilities during your custom jewellery consultation.

The appointment for this project was no different, our Berry client tried on several pieces before falling in love with a style of ring we had available in store.

18ct gold dress ring featuring a princess cut yellow sapphire, tsavorite garnet, Burmese ruby and aquamarine

One of the creations available to purchase in store. This dress ring features a princess cut yellow sapphire, tsavorite garnet, Burmese ruby and aquamarine in 18ct gold.

The ring that spoke to her was a multi-stone (pictured above) although the new design would be larger with more gemstones. Together, we would create a cocktail style dress ring with old school glamour and a WOW factor! Big, bold and full of colour, the new creation was also going sparkle with the addition of several diamonds to the piece.

Choosing the Right Coloured Gemstones for your Jewellery

When it comes to choosing coloured gemstones for your piece of jewellery there is no right or wrong answer. Find gems in a colour you love! We can help you find gemstones in nearly any colour, shape and size you can imagine.

Durability is important so consider how you wear your jewellery, pick gems that are hard enough for your lifestyle. Bezel settings are also great to help protect precious and semi-precious gems from knocks and bumps.

Tsavorite garnet, blue zircon, tanzanite, pink tourmaline from Sara's collection

Looking at gemstones from our instore collection we began to get an idea for the final colour. Pictured above (clockwise from the top) is tsavorite garnet, blue zircon, tanzanite, tourmaline.

We arrived to the right colour choice but still had to make a few changes. The pear shaped tsavorite garnet and tanzanite were perfect. The round pink tourmaline (pictured above) was too large and changed to a slightly smaller spinel in a similar colour.

The beautiful blue zircon from Cambodia was recut into a round shape to match the spinel. A 1ct cushion shaped diamond was going to be set in the center of the final design with four marquise diamonds used to break up the colour.

A Bespoke Creation Made Just for You

When the finalised design was agreed we secured the remaining gemstones required to create the piece.

Our highly trained jeweller helped bring this piece to life using skilled hands and a keen eye. It has been set in 18ct gold, yellow gold contrasts with the coloured gems while the white gold helps the diamonds pop.

We tried this piece on (top picture) and instantly fell in love. It is unlike anything we worked on until now and could get used to wearing a statement piece each day like this one.
