Choosing a Diamond
Larger diamonds used in our custom makes are certified by the GIA (The Gemmological Institute of America). The GIA have the best reputation for grading diamonds, evaluating stones using the 4 C’s:
Cut - A well-cut diamond reflects the light up through the crown without it escaping from the side or bottom.
Colour - The colour of a diamond ranges from colourless through to light yellow. Colourless diamonds are the rarest and command higher prices.
Clarity - The clarity refers to the tiny markings or inclusions within the stone. A flawless diamond is the rarest and most expensive. The leased rare and least expensive diamond has a clarity of Included 3.
Carat Weight - The size of a gemstone is measured in carat weight. Many people want the biggest diamond they can afford. Although diamond size is important, it’s a combination of cut, colour, clarity and carat weight that determines the value.
We will explain the most important factors to look for when choosing a diamond. With your budget and specifications in mind, we analyse the suitable diamonds available to us in the marketplace. Remember that time is your friend when you are looking for that perfect diamond. More time will provide more options and get you a better stone for your money.
When choosing a diamond ask questions and make sure you are happy with the answers. If your jeweller can’t give you reasons for selecting a particular stone, it should raise a few flags. If you have any questions that you are having trouble getting answers to please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Wedders & Eternity Bands
Wedding rings or wedders are exchanged between couples on their wedding day to symbolise love and commitment.
The perfect wedding band is comfortable, suits your lifestyle and looks great either by itself or alongside your engagement ring. There are no rules, as a couple your wedding rings don’t need to match, it’s a personal choice so choose one you like.
Give yourself time to find or make a wedding band you love. Many couples don’t give wedding rings enough consideration after spending so much on the wedding. Wedding rings are a symbol of eternity. The more time you give yourself, the greater the chance you will find something that looks and feels like you could wear it forever.
Traditionally, eternity bands are given as an anniversary gift or to mark a special moment in your relationship. Eternity bands are often given at the birth of a first child and as a reminder that the love expressed on your wedding day is never-ending

FAQs on Engagement Rings
-
Traditionally, the general guideline for buying an engagement ring was to spend equal to 2 months of your income. These days the average amount spent on an engagement ring is between $5K and $10K. Many couples are already living together with joint finances and an engagement ring is a joint investment that they decide on and make together.
A bespoke or custom engagement ring allows you to design your own ring and can be tailored to suit most budgets. We are also seeing a growing trend in jewellery remodelling where more mature couples add value or upgrade their engagement ring as they find themselves in a better financial position.

When helping a client choose a diamond for their engagement ring, we find it best to work backwards. Start the process by knowing how much you want to spend. From here, look at designs and you will know (after labour, precious metal and other gemstones) how much of the budget can be spent on the feature diamond.
The four C’s (colour, clarity, cut and carat weight) are how diamonds are graded and will determine what you can get for your budget. The cut of the diamond is the most important of these factors and will determine how much sparkle your diamond has. When looking for a diamond to fit your budget, compromises should be made first on clarity, then colour and finally cut.

A round, brilliant cut diamond has the most sparkle of all diamonds. It is a classic round diamond with the ideal facet pattern that lets in light and allowing it to reflect off every facet. A round brilliant diamond has 58 facets which is the most of all diamond cuts.
