Dress and Cocktail Rings

It all begins with an idea.  Maybe you saw it in a movie.  Maybe you have dreamed it up.  For us, it is often born when we first see a particular stone.  We think about how we will set it and bring it to life and make it shine its brightest self.  Cocktail or Dress Rings are big, bold and beautiful and we love making them for our Kiama store as well as unique custom pieces for our clients.  All our beautiful handmade jewellery is designed in Kiama on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.  Whether you have a special occasion, or you just want to do something for you.  Let us help you create something special.

What is a cocktail ring or dress ring?

Cocktail or Dress rings are dazzling rings often set with a large precious or semi-precious stones.  Larger than normal rings, these rings are designed to attract attention with their size, colour and beauty.  Their vibrant brilliance makes these rings stand out and ideal for cocktail parties, hence the name.  At Sara Handmade Jewellery, we see life a little different.  We think everyday should be a celebration and you shouldn’t need to wait for a special occasion to express yourself.  We design our dress rings with this in mind creating bold and striking pieces with the durability for daily wear.  Many stunning examples of our work are on display in our Kiama store.  You can also see our onsite jewellery designer to create a custom design that is uniquely yours.

Can you use a cocktail ring as an engagement ring?

We are often asked this question and our answer is always the same.  Why not?  Jewellery is a such a personal thing and the most important part is that you like wearing it.  If you love it, and it’s on ‘that’ finger people will see a blushing bride with an engagement ring, not a cocktail ring!  We are also seeing shift away from the traditional diamond rings and towards coloured gemstones.  We love colour and if you need any help sourcing gemstones, we are always happy to help.
